Komödienspiele Porcia

The Porcia Comedy Festival every year in summer in Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia ( Austria).

In 1960, Anne Marie Siller, Herbert Wochinz and Thomas Bernhard came to Spittal. They found the courtyard of Schloss Porcia ideal for summer theater.

Just one year later, in 1961, the entire ensemble of the Vienna theater came at the meat market to Spittal to play in the still unrenovated courtyard summer theater. The first year has shown:

  • The Comedy of Errors by Shakespeare
  • The dupe of Georges Feydeau
  • No pepper for Czermak by H. C. Artmann
  • Boubouroche by Georges Courteline

After initial skepticism, it went uphill, as the ORF 1964 began broadcasting from the comedy play records.

Meanwhile include the comedy Porcia the oldest Summer Games in Austria.
