Konaka Museum

The Historical Museum of Vidin, short " Konaka " Museum ( Bulg Музей " Конака " ), in the Bulgarian city of Vidin was founded in 1956 with headquarters in a former Ottoman official buildings ( Konak ) and belongs to the cultural heritage of the region.

Originally built in the 18th century administration building served as a police station, the central tower structure as a lighthouse. After the liberation from Ottoman rule, the building was reconstructed. Here flowed typical elements of the Bulgarian Renaissance architectural style with a. Collection

The collection includes historical exhibits of the region up to the liberation from the Ottoman occupation. The museum is divided into a prehistoric department and departments for antiquity and the Middle Ages. The ethnographic section of the museum is located in the Krastata Kasarma.
