Kondor (satellite)

Kondor (Russian Кондор ) is a Russian radar satellite.

He was sent into space with a Strela launcher on June 27, 2013. The satellite with mass 1150 kg is used for Earth observation. After the start he was given the code name of Cosmos 2487 Cosmos series. Condor is the first satellite in a planned series of Earth observation satellites with optical and radar payload. The Condor Satellite series is of Maschinostrojenija NPO ( NPO short -mash ) since 1993. The satellites are equipped with a S -band radar (wavelength of 9.5 cm) and an associated antenna with a diameter of about 6 meters. This allows a resolution of 1-3 m away.
