Königsruhe

(Also known as Good King rest) Königsruhe in the Harz Bode Gorge is a small settlement in the city of Thale in the Harz district in Saxony- Anhalt. It consists essentially of a tourist restaurant with its outbuildings.

Geographical location

Königsruhe located in the Harz Nature Park / Saxony- Anhalt in Hirschgrund. It is located about 3 km southwest of the core city of the valley directly at the Saale inflow Bode, a mountain river of the resin, which has cut deep here in the mountains, below the Roßtrappe (403 m above sea level. History

Already in 1820 sold a Thaler citizens in Jungfernbrücke refreshments to walkers. In 1834, the confectioner Christian Jung from Thale built in Hirschgrund in the Bode Valley a wooden hut with a fireplace. 1856 was followed by another larger building next to the bridge leading over the Bode. Initially it was called Hirschgrund. To commemorate a stop here was the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV on May 5, 1834, the Advanced inn was named in 1875 as a hotel Königsruhe.

In the night from 30 to 31 December 1925, the water level of the Bode rose in a sudden flood in the Bode Valley after the onset of hair and heavy snowmelt to a level of 4.50 m above normal. There was severe flooding and damage. The Virgin bridge was swept away; it was rebuilt in 1927.

The name King remained calm for the first property to the time of the GDR made ​​into it. Then came for political reasons a return appointment in Hirschgrund.

In the winter of 1982 found in need of renovation restaurant building exterior and interior shots for the episode Valley of the crime series Police 110 instead. In August 1994, a family farmer acquired the property. Since 1995, it again bears the name of the king alone.

Tourism and hiking

Tourism is economically dominant in Königsruhe. The inn Königsruhe ( Hirschgrund 1) with guesthouse, restaurant and beer garden is driven by numerous hikers on nationally known hiking trails. Through the acquisition, the trail on which you can walk along the valley of the Bode Treseburg. Until Königsruhe the way in case of need is usable, but also locked with motor vehicles for normal road traffic. The Hirschgrund is included as No. 178 in the system of stamp locations of the Harz hiking pin; the stamp box ( ⊙ 51.73361111111111.017722222222 ) is located a few meters northeast of the inn king rest. In Königsruhe there is also a station of the Mountain Rescue resin, which holds also an emergency vehicle on the trail to the valley.

Attractions

Apart from the impressive nature of the Bode valley located in the direction Treseburg on the outskirts Seven Brothers rocks and standing towards the valley on the outskirts Jungfernbrücke on the Bode are worth mentioning.
