Konstantine Gamsakhurdia (politician)

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia (Georgian კონსტანტინე გამსახურდია; * June 24, 1961 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian politician and Iranist. He is chairman of the political party freedom movement.

Life

He is the only son from the first marriage of the first Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia and grew up in Tbilisi. After the fall of his father and the legitimate government in 1992, he fled with his family to Switzerland. He lived in Dornach and worked as a translator, also worked as a freelancer for various newspapers.

In 2004, he returned for the first time in twelve years back in his homeland. The Georgian parliamentary elections on 28 March 2004, he led the list of candidates the freedom movement to square one. Until 2006, he shuttled between Georgia and Switzerland. Since February 2006 he has managed his party full-time.

Private

He is married and has two sons.
