Konstantinos Dovas

Konstantinos Dovas (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Δόβας ) ( born December 20 1898 Konitsa, † 1973) was a Greek General, politician and former Prime Minister.

Military career

Dovas embarked on a military career and first completed in 1918, the Hellenic Military Academy. During the civil war from 1946 to 1949 between the government and the Communist DSE under General Markos Vafiades he was commander of the garrison of Konitsa and was wounded several times. He then rose from 1954 to 1959 to lieutenant general and chief of the General Staff. During this period, a contract between the Army and the CIA about the establishment of a special unit " Sheepskin " ( sheepskin ) was signed on 25 March 1955 from which and in the following years the Greek part of Gladio, a secret organization of NATO, CIA MI6 developed. The aim of this secret organization was the fight against communist rebels and organizations.

After the adoption of the army he was for a time head of the royal household of King Paul.

Prime minister

From September 20 to November 4, 1961, he was Prime Minister of the transitional government between two cabinets by Konstantinos Karamanlis.
