Köprülü Canyon

Koprulu Kanyon is a canyon and National Park in the province of Antalya in southern Turkey. The park was established in 1973 and is 366 km ². It is located about one half each in the districts of Serik and Manavgat, 90 km northeast of Antalya. You can reach him when you turn from the coastal road about 5 km east of Aspendos north towards Beskonak.

The canyon is up to 400 m deep and extends for 14 km between the villages Bolasan and Beskonak along the river Köprüçay. His name ( Koprulu equal Turkish for " bridge " ) owes the canyon of a Roman stone arch bridge, the Eurymedonbrücke ( Turkish Oluk Köprü ) near the ancient city Selge which is in the range of the national park as well. Southwest of the Eurymedonbrücke is another bridge from Roman times. The Bügrüm Köprü spans the river Kocadere ( Turkish for huge Bach).

In the area with its rich stock of Mediterranean cypress, pine and oak trees live deer, but also brown bears and wolves should there be there.

In the middle reaches of the Köprüçay is the largest rafting center of Turkey. River trips by canoe, kayak or raft rubber are offered.
