Kormakitis
Kormakitis (Greek Κορμακίτης ( m. sg. ), Turkish Korucam, also Kormacit ) is a village with about 195 inhabitants in the north of the island of Cyprus.
Kormakitis is approximately in the middle of the north coast of the island; the nearby Cape Kormakitis to the western reaches of the Pentadaktylos ( Beşparmak ) was named after the village. Kormakitis is located in the district of the district Çamlıbel Girne Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; according to the old administrative divisions of the Republic of Cyprus, is a rural community ( gr kinótita κοινότητα ) in the district of Kyrenia.
Before the partition of the island in 1974 Kormakitis had about 1,000 inhabitants.
Kormakitis is considered the center of the Cypriot Maronite Church; here is also one of the four Maronite Church of Cyprus. Part of the population speaks Cypriot Arabic.
