Kory Tarpenning

Kory Tarpenning ( Kory Merrill Tarpenning; born February 27, 1962 in Portland ( Oregon)) is a retired American pole vaulter.

In 1988, he turned in Indianapolis with 5.89 m at the U.S. Trials his personal best. In the 1988 Olympics he was with 5.50m tenth.

At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1991 in Seville Tarpenning was fourth with 5.70 m at the same level with third-placed Ferenc Salbert from France.

The fourth place went to Tarpenning also at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Again Tarpenning was the same height as the winner of the bronze medal, which went to the Spaniard Javier García. 1997 Tarpenning was tested positive for anabolic steroids and banned for two years.

Kory Tarpenning is 1.80 m and weighed in his playing days 75 kg.
