Koubri Department

Koubri is both a municipality (French commune Rurale ) and a comprehensive department of the same territory in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Centre region and the province of Kadiogo. The municipality has 43,467 inhabitants in 26 villages.

In Koubri, south of the capital Ouagadougou located, is since 1963 a monastery of the Benedictine Order, thanks to its agricultural products which - in particular dairy products - enjoys a high level of awareness in Burkina Faso. The monastery played an important role in local industrialization of food production as one of the first production of pasteurized milk and yogurt in Burkina Faso. More milk processing companies could be in recent years in and around Koubri down.
