Kraków Film Festival

The Krakowski Festiwal Filmowy is an international film festival in Krakow, which specializes in documentaries, animation and short films.

With the establishment in 1961, the festival is one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. It is accredited by the international film producers association FIAPF and takes place every year in May and June.

The main prize of the international competition is the Golden Dragon. In the Polish Competition of Golden Lajkonik is its counterpart. A Lajkonik (see Krakauer Lajkonik ) is a plug- horse - rider, who belongs to the Krakow folklore. Furthermore, the Krakowski Festival Filmowy has its own student competition.

In particular, for the Polish cinema, the festival of Krakow as the discoverer of local directors such as Krzysztof Kieślowski important.
