Kráľova hoľa

The Kráľova hoľa (1946 m nm, German Königsberg ) is the highest mountain in the eastern part of the Low Tatras ( Low Tatras ) and is on the eastern edge of the mountains, the last significant survey dar. Thus, the mountain is also named for the eastern part of the Low Tatra, Tatry called Kráľovohoľské.

The name is said to date back to the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus, who on the mountain had a hunting area in the 15th century.

The Kráľova hoľa located between the municipalities Liptovská Teplička, Vernár, Telgárt and Šumiac.

From the latter place performs a non-public route to the mountain where since 1960 a television broadcast plant is located. As antenna support a 137.5 meter high guyed steel tube mast used. Earlier this mast had a closed gallery, which was accessible via an external spiral staircase. From the other mentioned localities and from the west on the main ridge of the Low Tatras, the summit can be reached via hiking trails.

On the slopes or in the immediate vicinity of spring four of the most important rivers in Slovakia - Hron, Hornád, Hnilec and Vah ( with the source river Vah Čierny ) - why the mountain has a certain importance in the national identity of the country.

The summit area is above the tree line and allows a comprehensive view in all directions.
