Krasny Oktyabr Open Joint-Stock Company
The OAO Red October (Russian Красный Октябрь, transcription Krasny Oktjabr German: Red October ) is a Russian manufacturer of confectionery and the name of the same factory in Moscow.
History
Opened in 1851 the German Theodor Ferdinand von Einem a small pastry shop on Arbat. Add shop " A ", were produced in the chocolate and candy, he occupy five employees. From A 1857 learned his future business partner Julius Heuss, with whom he opened a pastry shop at the Theatre Square in Moscow the same year.
1867 was built by A together with his business partner at the Heuss Sophie shore, directly opposite the Kremlin, his first chocolate factory. 1876 died from one. In Moscow, built by Einem's successor Julius Heuss which for that time the largest and most modern confectionery factory in the country at the southern tip of Yakimanka Island.
1907 died Julius Heuss. The company was continued by his five sons.
After the October Revolution, the company was nationalized and " formerly a State Confectionery Factory No. 1," renamed in 1918. In 1922 she was renamed to its present name "Red October".
In 1966 we started the production of the most famous chocolate factory " Alenka ", whose advertising is a known little girl. The girl, who can be seen on the packaging of chocolate, really exists, it is the daughter of an employee of the factory, the " Alenka " photographed when she was eight months old.
In 1992 the company was converted into a public limited company. On 27 May 1994 we set up at the factory site a museum.
In 2007, production was moved to the north of the city. This left the factory museum and a small shop that sells the candy of Red October. The six -acre site in a prime city location could be saved from demolition and redevelopment lucrative. In the converted factory buildings are now boutiques of fashion designers at affordable rents, a café with video installations, a popular nightclub overlooking the Moskva River and one television station for Internet television.
