Krastyo Krastev

Krastjo Kotew Krastev (also written Krastyo Kotev Krastev, Bulgarian Кръстьо Котев Кръстев; born May 31, 1866 in Pirot, then Ottoman Empire, now in Serbia, † April 15, 1919 in Sofia, Bulgaria ), also known as Dr. Krastev ( Bulg д - р Кръстев ) was a Bulgarian linguist, translator, philosopher, first Bulgarian literary critic of modern times and a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Krastev was next Pentscho Slaveikov, Petko Todorov and Pejo Jaworow the literary circle " Misal " ( Bulg Мисъл - thought). Next Krastev is the founder of the movement of neo-Kantianism in Bulgaria.

Life

Youth

Krastjo Krastev was born in 1866 in the then still the Ottoman Empire (now Serbia ) associated city Pirot. His family counted among the wealthiest and his father was on the board of the parish. When his hometown in 1878 in the Russian- Ottoman war occupied by the Serbian army, the Bulgarian institutions were closed and protests broke out against the Serb troops under the Bulgarian population, his father and other members of his family was interned. After the Berlin Congress of 1878 Pirot was awarded the newly independent Principality of Serbia and the family of Krastjo Krastev succeeded by the refugee wave of Bulgarians who left Pirot towards Bulgaria. In the region of Pirot and in southeastern Serbia generally lives a Bulgarian minority today.

In Sofia arrived Krastjo was enrolled in the First Sofia boys high school, where he got solid knowledge in the subjects Ancient Greek, French, German, Russian, Stenographiere and others.
