Kris Holm

Kris Holm (born 15 July 1973) is a Canadian unicyclists, pioneers of mountain unicycling and other winners of the World Cup in Unicycle Trial 2002. He lives with his wife and daughter in Vancouver.

Career

Kris Holm began in 1986 with the unicycle and is regarded as one of the first Munifahrer ( Muni: Mountain Unicycling ). He is the initiator of the first unicycle Trial competitions. In 1998 he set a world record in Sidehop ( high jump to the side ), which had existed until 2004. In the same year he began the Norco Factory Team to make trial demonstrations and toured with this until 2006. 1999 was North American champion Holm Unicycle Trial. He began with the unicycle traveling the world, looking for new challenges. So he went down for example from Pico de Orizaba, the third highest mountain in North America with the unicycle. In 2001 he published with One Tired Guy his first major film unicycle. In ancient trade routes he crossed the Kingdom of Bhutan in the Himalayas and sailed the Great Wall. From his film Into the Thunder Dragon was born.

2002 Kris Holm graduated from the University of British Columbia a Master of Science in Geosciences and has been working since as a geoscientist. He became world champion in unicycle Trial Also in 2002 and in 2005 won the title of European Champion. In 2006 he ascended the almost 6000 m high volcano Licancabur in Bolivia and rode the unicycle down. In 2010, he participated as the only unicyclist in the BC Bike Race, a seibentägigen mountain bike race in British Columbia and became the first unicycle rider to score a podium finish in a major bike race (3rd place in Stage 5 ). 2013 he officially beendetet his semi-professional career at age 40. However, the unicycling, he wants to continue to operate.

Kris Holm was in many extreme sports films as One Tired Guy, Into the Thunder Dragon, New World Disorder, North Shore Extreme and see on TV, and in a section of Tim Burton's show Ripley's Believe It Or Not. These were the first worldwide appearances of a unicycle - athlete and helped the sport of mountain Unicacling to make it popular. Overall, he was since 1998 in more than 200 features and 13 films that were shown at film festivals in over 30 countries to see. In the December 2005 issue of Men's Journal, his film Into the Thunder Dragon was listed in the top 20 of best adventure DVDs.

Kris Holm Unicycles

1997 Holm began to build unicycle parts. The components available at that time were not up to the rigors of this new sport. Accidents caused by material failure were no rarity. In 1999 he founded his company Kris Holm Unicycles and thus filled a market gap by first proposed unicycles that were specially designed for off-road and mountain unicycling. Initially, the wheels of Norco were produced, now KHU has an independent production. Through years of experience and exchange with other top drivers and engineers, he was able to bring thought-out products on the market.

The Kris Holm Unicycles company supports the unicycle sport by sponsoring talented riders around the world and equips with material. Kris Holm Unicycles is committed to environmentally conscious manufacturing processes and donates a percentage of its sales to environmental protection.
