Kristján Jónsson

Kristján Jónsson ( born March 4, 1852 in Gautlönd ( Iceland ); † July 2, 1926 ) was an Icelandic politician (independent) and Prime Minister of Iceland.

Between 1893 and 1905, and 1908-1913 he was a member of the Icelandic parliament, the Althing of. On March 14, 1911, he broke Björn Jónsson from as prime minister and remained until July 24, 1912 in this office. He was succeeded by Hannes Hafstein.

Two of his brothers were also politicians, Pétur Jónsson (* August 28, 1858; † January 20, 1922, a member of the Althing 1894-1922, Industry Minister 1920-1922 ) and Steingrímur Jónsson (* December 27, 1867, † December 29, 1956, a member of the Althing 1906-1915 ).

Kristján was the father of the future Prime Minister Sigurdur Eggerz.
