Kırıkkale ( Turkish for broken castle) is the capital of the eponymous province in Turkey. It is located in north-central Anatolia, approximately 80 km east of Ankara. Located on major road and rail links the city experienced in the 20th century, a dynamic development into an important industrial center (including armor, chemical and wood processing). Since 1992 Kırıkkale is also a university town.
