Kronberg (mountain)

The Kronberg ( 1'662, 8 m above sea level. M. ) is located south of Jakobsbad above, precedes the Alpstein north, in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. The Kronberg is famous for its views of the mountains of Alpstein.

In the local dialect it is called [ xrobɛg ], usually with a short -o-. The mountain is in the Middle Ages occupied ( end of the 9th century Chraunberch, 1071 Chranperche, about 1280 Cramberch ).

The Kronberg is accessible from Jakobsbad on several hiking trails and a cable car. In winter, ski lifts are in addition to and around the Kronberg in operation. There is also a runway for a descent from Kronberg to Gonten or Jakobsbad and a 7-km -long toboggan run to Jakobsbad. With a trail to the Kronberg well of Appenzell reach from the northeast, as well as from Schwägalp on the other, southern side of the Kronberg.

The Kronberg is as easy mountable mountain is a popular destination and can also be hiked in the winter ( with snowshoes).

At the valley station of the Kronberg for some years a summer toboggan run of the system Alpine Coaster. There is also a cable park, which opened on 16 June 2007.
