The Krysische ( proper name. [ ɢrətsa mɛz ], russ крызский язык kryzskij jazyk, English Kryts ), formerly called also Dschekisch, is spoken by about 8000-15000 people in Azerbaijan. It is grouped with the Buduchischen to Shah - Dagh subgroup within the group of lesgischen ( Northeast Caucasian ) nachisch - Dagestani language family.
The term Krysisch based on the name of the place Qrız, the older term Dschekisch on the place name Cek.
Linguistic situation
Krysisch is no written language. It is threatened with extinction, as it is under strong pressure to assimilate on the part of Azerbaijan.
