Krzysztof Urbanski

Krzysztof Urbanski (* 1982 in Pabianice, Poland) is a Polish conductor.

Life

Urbanski graduated 2007, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In the same year he became assistant conductor at the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and won first prize at the International Conductors Competition in Prague. 2010 joined Urbanski his job as chief conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra Trondheim, Norway, on. Since the season 2011/2012 he is also music director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Urbanski worked in recent years with various national orchestras in Poland together, so for example with the Sinfonia Varsovia and the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. An example of his international appearances is working with the NDR Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg, Krzysztof Penderecki's Threnody where he conducted in autumn 2010 for the victims of Hiroshima. His debut in the U.S., he was also in 2010 at the Grant Park Festival in Chicago, in which he conducted the orchestra concert of Witold Lutosławski, among others. In October 2010, he conducted the hr-Sinfonieorchester in Frankfurt am Main.

The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University called Urbanski in the winter semester 2011/2012 to associate professor in the subject orchestral conductor.
