Band History

Foundation

The band was formed in August 1983, when Ásmundur Jónsson wanted to make of the then most important Icelandic record label grams a group with all avant-garde musicians of that time. Thus, the band ( Godkrist called ) was composed of Björk Guðmundsdóttir who had just frontwoman of the punk band Tappi Tíkarrass, Einar Örn Benediktsson of Purrkur Pillnikk, Sigtryggur Baldursson and Guðlaugur Kristinn Óttarsson of the band theyr, Einar Arnaldur Melax of Medúsa and Birgir Mogensen of the band Spilafífl.

Publications

In December 1983, published KUKL the single Söngull with the Pökn B- side ( fyrir byrjendur ). The title Söngull appeared in modified form and in English under the name Dismembered on the album The Eye. This was taken in October 1984 on the label Crass Records on the market. To the song Anna is also a video clip was filmed. In 1985 was followed by a European tour in July of that year, the live album KUKL à Paris was released 14/09/84. The second studio album Holidays in Europe ( The Naughty Nought ) was published in January 1986, with the songs France ( A Mutual Thrill ) and Outward Flight ( Psalm 323), there were videos.

Resolution

After the two studio albums to KUKL disbanded in 1986. Björk, Einar Örn, Einar Melax and Sigtryggur founded in the same year the Sugarcubes (Icelandic: Sykurmolarnir ), together with Bragi Ólafsson as bassist and Fridrik Erlingsson as a guitarist (later replaced by Þór Eldon ).
