Kunstareal

The Munich Art Quarter is a museum quarter in the Maxvorstadt in Munich. Although the Museum District has grown, as such, historically, the term art complex is used only since the emergence of the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Museum Brandhorst.

  • Pinakothek der Moderne ( International painting, sculpture and photography from the 20th and 21st centuries; collection for design, graphics and architecture)
  • Palais Pinakothek at the Palais Dürckheim (Center for Art Education )
  • Türkentor ( exhibition platform for art )
  • Museum Brandhorst ( private collection of modern painting)
  • Munich Glyptothek ( ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan sculptures)
  • State Collection of Antiquities (Ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan vases, gold work and cabaret )
  • Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus ( Altmünchner painting, painting of Der Blaue Reiter and the New Objectivity, International Painting and Sculpture of the 20th and 21st centuries )
  • National Graphic Arts Collection ( International Graphics from the Renaissance to the present day )
  • Museum of Casts Classic sculptures
  • Egyptian State Collection

Also, some natural science museums in the state are located in the immediate vicinity, the Paleontological Museum, the realm of crystals and the State Geological Collection.

Still under construction is the National Socialist Documentation Center between king and Karolinenplace.
