Kupffer cell

The Kupffer cells, also Browicz - Kupffer cells or also often mistakenly referred to as Kupffer cells, according to the explorers Karl Wilhelm von Kupffer and Tadeusz Browicz called macrophages (scavenger cells ) of the liver with an oval nucleus. Only with the help of electron microscopy these liver cells could be differentiated into macrophages and fat-storing Ito cells.

The macrophages are located in the liver tissue at the inner wall of the liver sinusoids and differentiate from monocytes.
