Kurt Kasznar

Kurt Kasznar, native Kurt Serwicher or Kurt Servicher, ( born August 12, 1913 in Vienna, Austria - Hungary, † August 6, 1979 in Santa Monica, California ) was an Austrian- American actor.

Life

Age of ten he was already standing in front of a movie camera on the side of Max Linder. He worked until he was 18 in Salzburg Restaurant operating his stepfather Ferdinand Kasznar. At the Max -Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna, he trained to become an actor. 1933, a year after his debut, he went to the Schauspielhaus Zurich. In 1935, he accepted the invitation of Max Reinhardt in the U.S., Kasznar then returned but once again back and looked at the 1936 Salzburg Festival. In January 1937, he went back to the U.S. to take advantage of an offer in the film The Eternal Road.

Only the " Anschluss " in 1938 meant that Kasznar finally remained in the United States. He went to New York stage, married the wealthy American Cornelia Wooley and became an American citizen. 1940/41, directed and produced the play Crazy With the Heat.

In 1941 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He worked as a cameraman and reporter in the Pacific. Kasznar part of the team, which began the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri. In June 1943, he brought the one-act play first cousin to the performance, in which he was involved as a co -author.

In 1948 he again played regularly on Broadway. In 1951 and began his career as a film actor. He embodied dubious, bizarre, sometimes comic characters. His role in the film My Son discovers love in 1953 brought him a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. In the 60 years he was especially television actor, who was involved in numerous series.

After the death of his first wife in 1948, he was married from 1950 to 1958 to divorce with actress Leora Dana. From his first marriage to journalist Susan Kasznar comes.
