Kurt Luedtke

Kurt Luedtke Mamre ( born September 28, 1939 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is an American screenwriter and Oscar winner, the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay was awarded Sydney Pollack's film drama Out of Africa.

Life

Kurt Mamre Luedtke was born the son of the timber merchant Herman Ernst Luedtke and Virginia Luedtke. After he attended the University of Michigan in 1961 and graduated from Brown University, he became a journalist in Grand Rapids Press, later when Miamia Herald and finally at the Detroit Free Press, where he brought the age of 34 it is up to the chief editor. Four years later, at age 38, he decided to quit his job and moved to Los Angeles, where he began writing screenplays. In 1981 appeared with Malice, a film drama about journalism, directed by Sydney Pollack, his first produced screenplay, for which he was each honored with an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay and a nomination for Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay. In 1986 he was presented for his novel adaptation to Pollack's Out of Africa adapted the Oscar for Best Screenplay.

Since May 1, 1965 Luedtke is with Eleanor Kruglinski, a Symphony Vice President, married.
