58th Academy Awards

The Academy Awards 1986 took place on 24 March 1986 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. It was the 58th Annual Academy Awards. In the year of award films of the past year are always excellent, in this case, the films of the year 1985.

At the 58th Academy Awards, the film Out of Africa won seven Oscars. This includes prices for Best Picture, Best Director ( Sydney Pollack ) and Best Adapted Screenplay ( Kurt Luedtke ) ( also still camera, music, set design and sound). Two Oscars, the film won Cocoon, including Best Supporting Actor ( Don Ameche ) ( special effects ) as well as the film The only witness who also received the award for Best Original Screenplay along with the price for Best Editing. The other acting awards went to Best Actor William Hurt in Kiss of the Spider Woman and the division of Best Supporting Actress Anjelica Huston in Prizzi's Honor. Geraldine Page (A Trip to Bountiful - journey to happiness ), got as a winner in the category Best Actress two minutes standing ovation from the audience.

Twelve people were nominated for the soundtrack of The Color Purple. These were the most people that have ever been nominated for a single Oscar. The price however was on the soundtrack of Out of Africa. Even otherwise, the film, despite 11 nominations win any prizes and thus leads in the list Most Nominations / No Awards along with The Turning Point, which in 1978 befell the same.

During the show, actress Sarah Cunningham, the wife of actor John Randolph got an asthma attack in the lobby, and died.
