6th Academy Awards
The Academy Awards 1934 took place on 16 March 1934 at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. It was the 6th Annual Academy Awards. Prizes were awarded films from the period between 1 August 1932 to 31 December 1933.
In the previous year, no Oscar ceremony took place because they wanted the future characterize the films from the past calendar year. The new category Best Director Assistant lasted only for 5 years. Katharine Hepburn won her first of four later Oscars for Best Actress.
