74th Academy Awards
The Academy Awards 2002 took place on March 24, 2002 for the first time at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on a Sunday instead. It was the 74th Annual Academy Awards. In the year of award films of the past year are always excellent, in this case, the films of the year 2001.
The 74th Academy Awards ceremony was dominated by the African-American, because for the first time in the history of the Oscars won both awards for the best African American leading actor: Denzel Washington won for Training Day, Halle Berry for Monster 's Ball
Winning film of the evening was A Beautiful Mind - Genius and madness of 4 major Oscars in the categories of Best Film, Best Director (Ron Howard), Best Supporting Actress ( Jennifer Connelly ) and Best Adapted Screenplay ( Akiva Goldsman ) got.
Also 4 Oscars got the first part of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of clearing away the trophy in the categories of Best Music ( Howard Shore), Best Cinematography, Best Mask and Best Special Effects.
In addition, Black Hawk Down and Moulin Rouge each won two Oscars in the categories of editing and sound and equipment and costumes.
The award for best supporting actor went to Jim Broadbent for display in Iris, the prize for the best original screenplay to Julian Fellowes for the script of Gosford Park.
