Son of the Bride is an Argentine comedy drama from director Juan José Campanella. It was premiered on December 26, 2001 in Germany.
The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002 for an Oscar in the category.
Action
The restaurant owner, Rafael Belvedere is under occupational stress and financial problems. Moreover, he neglects his family, especially his mother, Norma, suffering from Alzheimer's who lives in a retirement home, and he has not visited in over a year. His father Nino is married to Norma for 44 years, but they are not married in church, even though the request was Norma. This desire would like Nino and his wife now subsequently meet and asks his son to help him. Turned the offer down because he thinks that the hustle and bustle of a wedding for his mother was too exhausting, and because they could not catch anyway because of their illness, what is happening.
Surprisingly appeared on Juan Carlos, a childhood friend. Juan Carlos has in a tragic car accident lost his wife and daughter and suffered greatly from this loss. Finally, he got his life back on track and become an actor.
Rafael lives apart from his wife. His daughter visited him regularly, but she feels misunderstood and neglected by her father. Even Rafael's girlfriend Naty is not happy in the relationship.
Rafael suffers a heart attack. In the hospital, he rethinks his life and wants to change it: He wants to have no more problems.
Back home there is tension between him and Naty. The friendship with Juan Carlos is put to the test when he confesses this, that he has fallen in love with Naty. After a heated argument between the friends sees Rafael as Naty hugging a foreign man. Furious Jealousy Rafael insulted his girlfriend and wants to beat the man, but it turns out that it is Natys father who wants to take his daughter to Spain. In a restaurant, there is a debate between Rafael and Naty, who tells him that she is looking for true love. Rafael explains that true love was just for kids. The conversation ends when she leaves him.
Rafael sold his restaurant and cares deeply for his daughter, looks at it and reads the poems that she has written. He visited Juan Carlos, and the friends sons from each other. The church refuses to trust Nino and Norma. Rafael visits his mother and apologizes to her for the grief he has caused her.
Rafael evening waiting outside her house on Naty. She comes home late, and it is to see how unhappy she is. When she notices Rafael, she does not want to talk to him and escapes into her house. About the intercom said Rafael that he has realized his mistakes, is not afraid to deal with the problems of his girlfriend and his family, and that he loves her. The two are reconciled.
Nino gets old friends to invite them to his wedding, but he learns that some are ill or died from them. In the nursing home, a wedding is staged plays the priest in the Juan Carlos. Then all celebrate together in a restaurant that Rafael has bought.
