Altec Lansing

Altec Lansing is a tradition originating from the U.S. company, which now operates worldwide and speakers, sound systems, headsets, headphones and microphones manufactured for personal computers; the German sales office is based in the Main.

History

In 1928 the U.S. company Western Electric, the Electric Research Products, Inc. ( EPRI ); which split in the 30s the All Technical Products Company, which in turn the Lansing Manufacturing Company by James Bullough Lansing ( see also JBL ) took over. The official founding date of the Altec Lansing Corporation is May 1, 1941.

In the 1940s, Altec Lansing introduced primarily manufactures speakers for movie theaters and military devices for detection of submarines. In 1947, the company took the Peerless Electrical Products Company and was involved from now on also in Hi-Fi.

Altec Lansing paid in the 1950s also cinemas with the Voice -of -the- Theatre devices who switched to stereo sound.

In the 1990s, Altec Lansing introduced the first PC audio system before (1990) and collaborated from 1995 with Dell Computers, which combined their PCs with speaker systems from Altec Lansing. Thus, the company could justify the market leader in PC audio segment, which lasted until the beginning of the 21st century.

At the same time Altec Lansing has been known as a manufacturer of high-end products in the car hi-fi range.
