Rudi Fehr

Rudolf A. " Rudi " Fehr ( born July 6, 1911 in Berlin, German Reich, † 16 April 1999 in Los Angeles, California ) was a German - American editor and studio Responsible for both Warner Bros. as well as American Zoetrope.

Life

Born in Berlin, Rudolf A. Fehr cut for the first time in 1931 with The Schlemihl his first film, and then worked for several years for the Jewish film producer Sam Spiegel, with whom he also from the Nazis from Germany via Austria fled to England, where he worked on Buster Keaton Comedy The Invader cooperated during cutting. In 1936 he moved to Hollywood, where he translated initially for 60 U.S. dollars a week German films into English. After a short time, however, he received from Warner Bros. a post as assistant section of Warren Low. After 1940 he for the first time on their own responsibility a feature film cut with My Love Came Back, he was active in the next 15 years for films such as I confess and Dial M for Murder, both of Alfred Hitchcock, as a cutter.

Fehr was promoted in 1952 by Jack L. Warner as president of production at the Studio line, which he, with one exception in post-production of THX 1138, almost 30 years should be cut out of film. After Fehr 1976, retired as a studio in charge of the business, he went to Europe, where he sighted for Warner German, French, Italian and Spanish films, had the potential for a Hollywood adaptation. In 1982 he was hired by Francis Ford Coppola for his production company American Zoetrope as head of post-production, which he was to intersect with one heart and whose film. With the film comedy Prizzi's Honor cut Fehr, together with his daughter Kaja Fehr, his last film in 1986 and was able to celebrate with an Oscar nomination for Best Editing his greatest success.

Since January 28, 1940 Rudolf Fehr was married to actress Maris Wrixon, who he met during the filming of The Dollar blessing. Up to Fehr's death she remained married and had four children together, including the editor Kaja Fehr. AM April 16, 1999 died Rudolf A. Fehr due to a heart attack.
