Asakazu Nakai

Asakazu Nakai (Japanese中 井 朝 一, Nakai Asakazu; born August 29, 1901 in Kobe, † 28 February 1988) was a Japanese cameraman.

Life

Asakazu Nakai started his career as a cameraman in 1933 and worked until 1986, including 91 productions.

The director Akira Kurosawa whom he had a decade-long collaboration.

In 1951 he was awarded the Japanese Film Award Blue Ribbon Award.

For Kurosawa's Ran late work he was nominated together with Masaharu Ueda and Takao Saitō 1986 Best for the Oscar in the category of camera.
