Richard Condon ( born March 18, 1915 in New York City; † April 9, 1996 in Dallas, Texas) was an American writer.

Life and work

Richard Condon attended DeWitt Clinton High School and went to sea with the U.S. Merchant Marine. Then he began his career as a theater director and writer for United Artists, before he turned to fiction in 1957. Responsible for this was his boss Max E. Young stone, part of his salary aside managed without Condon's knowledge - and fired him after one year. He handed him the key for a house with sea views in Mexico and the Mexican bank account with the accrued money: He should now write the novels, of which he spoke. Condon delivered promptly from bestseller. Among his best known novels include Prizzi's Honor and The Manchurian Candidate.
