The Purple Rose of Cairo

The Purple Rose of Cairo is the 13th film in which Woody Allen has worked as a director. The resulting 1985 film comedy is set in America during the Great Depression of the 1930s and tells of the life of the waitress Cecilia.

Action

The waitress Cecilia is unhappy with her life and her marriage. She takes refuge in the fantasy world of cinema. My favorite movie is " The Purple Rose of Cairo ," in which the actor Gil Shepherd plays the adventurer Tom Baxter. To their surprise, leaves the film character Baxter one day the screen and falls in love with Cecilia. Shocked by the incident, the actor Gil Shepherd visited the affected cinema and countered by Cecilia. This is now between the two men and has to decide who she wants to spend her life. The film character Baxter is in almost every way perfect ( waits after a passionate kiss but in the usual fade ), Shepherd rather a man with rough edges. She opts for Shepherd and want to stay with him. Baxter returns it back to the canvas. Then it turns out that Cecilia Shepherd has only used to get Baxter back to the movie wall.

Criticism

" A wise and sensitive tragicomedy, superbly directed and acted. The movie combines a love story with an intelligent reflection on appearance and reality, illusion and reality. The complex confusion is as multi-faceted discourse about ways of love, life, film and dream a love letter to the cinema, its stars and spectators. "
