Bruce Broughton

Bruce Broughton ( born March 8, 1945 in Los Angeles, California) is an American film music composer.

Life

Broughton grew up in Hawaii and graduated in 1967 his musical studies at the University of Southern California with a distinction. Back in the 60s and 70s, he made the music for several U.S. television series attracted attention, including Gunsmoke, Quincy, Hawaii Five-0 or Dallas.

1984 Broughton composed for the film War of the Eispiraten his first soundtrack for a movie. Already in the following year he got his first Oscar nomination for the movie Silverado. This was his breakthrough in Hollywood and from then on he composed music for films by established directors. In particular he is known for his music for several Disney films. He also wrote the score for the film Timekeeper, which ran at Disneyland until 2006.

In addition, he has established himself as a conductor with new recordings of classic film scores so important Miklós Rózsa or colleagues like Bernard Herrmann earned.

His composition for Heart of Darkness was the first orchestral music for a video game.
