Kurt Pompe

Kurt Bruno Pompe ( born March 4, 1899 in Schmiedeberg, Giant Mountains, Lower Silesia, † August 1, 1964 in Schweinfurt ) was in several internment camps commander of the guards or guard -to-do. He held various positions in forced labor camps for Jews in Silesia. The forced labor camp in Silesia are still hardly known to the public.

Life

On October 25, 1918 Pompe was severely wounded in Tournai (Belgium ), and his left leg was amputated below the knee and fitted with a prosthesis. In 1922 he moved with his family to Neisse. Through its political development during the Weimar Republic is not known. From 1942 to April 1944, he is detectable in forced labor camps for Jews in Silesia, which were subject to the SS office Schmelt.

Already in 1942 Pompe was feared in sheet metal hammer ( Upper Silesia ), but nowhere he committed so many crimes as in Brande, where " the lame " from autumn 1942 to August 1943 was wax -to-do. This camp was located near the village Brande (Kreis Falkenberg, Upper Silesia ). It existed from October 1940 and was one of the thirteen western Upper Silesian Reichsautobahn camp for Jews who were under the Supreme construction management Reichsautobahn Wroclaw.
