The also known as Goto ( Vallis honesta de Gotho ) famous monastery Kutjevo was a Cistercian abbey in Croatia. It was in the Croatian countryside of Slavonia, 23 km north-northeast of Požega.
History
The monastery was founded in 1232. It was a daughter house of Zirc Abbey in Hungary from the filiation of Clairvaux Abbey Primary. The Cistercians also founded the still tended vines. The monastery was named after the Turkish invasion in lifted 1521 ( or 1529) and then destroyed. 1689 the convent of Emperor Leopold I. was awarded to the canons of Zagreb Ivan Babić, who was appointed Titularabt. In 1698 it was colonized by the Jesuits who remained until 1773. 1882 Best of Vjenceslav Turković and Franjo door was acquired and a significant wine production has been established. After the Second World War it was run as a socialist operation.
Buildings and plant
The existing plant was built by the Jesuits in the 18th century on the ruins of the Cistercian monastery.
