KV40

KV40 Tomb of Unknown

KV40 is an ancient Egyptian grave in the Valley of the Kings. It was founded in 1899 by Victor Loret discovered for the service of Antiquities, today's Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA ). The results of his excavation work for the Department of Antiquities were not published.

The grave owner is unknown and there is probably a non- royal grave. Due to its location KV40 in the time of the 18th Dynasty ( New Kingdom ) is dated. Since only the upper input shaft accessible and the rest is filled with debris, no further details of the grave are known.

A discovered in January 2011 further shaft directly at the grave was first provided with the provisional title KV40b, turned out on closer examination as a separate grave out and has since been referred to as grave KV64.
