Kwilu

The Kwilu (on German phonetically Kuilu or Kouilou ) is a river in the Congo Basin in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. It flows just south of Bandundu in the Kwango, which in turn opens a few kilometers north of the city in the Kasai. Before it flows from the Angolan province of Uige coming, the Bandundu province from south to north. He passed the places Gungu, Kikwit, Bulungu, Bagata.

History

The Kwilutal is the home of King Lukeni lua Nimi (also Ntinu Nimi a Lukeni; approx. 1380-1420 ), first king of the Kingdom of Kongo. In 1963, Pierre Mulele here at the Mai-Mai uprising.
