Kyle Gann

Kyle Eugene Gann ( born November 21, 1955 in Dallas, Texas) is a composer, music critic and music teacher.

Life

Gann moved early on to New York, where he studied composition with Ben Johnston, Morton Feldman and Peter Gena. From 1986 to 2005 he was music critic of the New York City magazine The Village Voice. Since 1997 he has taught at Bard College in Red Hook in New York in the subjects of music theory, music history and composition.

Kyle Gann is one of the few musicians who composed original music for the Disklavier.
