Kylin (operating system)

Kylin (Chinese麒麟, named after the mythical creature Qilin ) is a Chinese operating system, which was developed at the National University of Defense Technology for use on first military and government computers. Basis was FreeBSD, extended by elements that should cure the system. Kylin is pursuing a similar approach to Security-Enhanced Linux, which of the U.S. National Security Agency ( NSA) is encouraged.

The first public version of Kylin was published in 2007.

Kylin Linux

Since 2010, Kylin is based on Linux. The supercomputer Tianhe -1A works with 64 -bit Linux Kylin. Kylin Linux is the operating system of the currently (June 2013) world's most powerful supercomputer Tianhe -2.

UbuntuKylin

2013 appeared with a UbuntuKylin based on Ubuntu 13:04 variant for the consumer sector. Under a five -year plan Kylin to the Chinese reference operating system.

Kylin is an official Ubuntu variant since March 2013.
