Kyšice (Plzeň-City District)

Kyšice ( German Kyschitz, also Kieschitz ) a municipality with 819 ( 3 July 2006) inhabitants in the region of western Bohemia.

Location

Kyšice is located 8 kilometers east of Pilsen. The D5 motorway is just 2 kilometers from the community.

The village, originally dominated by agriculture, turned into a small industrial community, were obtained in the ores and still sound for the ceramic industry is broken down. In the vicinity there is also an artificial lake, which was created after the completion of ore mining, as the eroded landscape of the Upper opencast mine was placed under water.

History

First mentioned in writing was the site in 1336 as a farm and castle of the lords of Pistau, the Lords of Smědčice, later lords of Kych who were employed as manager of the Royal Court.

In the 16th century began with the mining of ores. After the Thirty Years War, the promotion was interrupted and only resumed in 1662. The mines were finally closed after the 1st World War.
