L' amore medico ( The Lover German as a doctor, literally about " love as a doctor ") is a comic opera in two acts by Ermanno Wolf- Ferrari. The libretto was written by Enrico Golisciani and based on the eponymous comedy ( original title L' Amour médecin ) by Molière. Premiere was on December 4, 1913, the Court Opera in Dresden in the German editor Richard Batka. The Italian was first performed in 1929 held in Turin.

Action

The pretty Luzinde is the pride of her father, the rich landowner Arnulf. Not for anything in the world he wants to lose it. Him shudder before the day is at the Luzinde tell him once that she had fallen in love with a man and intend to marry. Since Lisette comes with an unidentified doctor and therefore stated that it had after a long search found the right specialist. This, however, is no other than that of Luzinde so prospective immelte Clitandro. He pretends to be a doctor of the soul and seems the seemingly ill to examine very thoroughly.
