La Bourboule

La Bourboule is a commune with 1925 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region. It is located in the arrondissement of Clermont -Ferrand and the District of Rochefort -Montagne.

The mountain town below the Puy de Sancy includes a 12.74 km ² large area of 812-1408 m above sea level.

Geography

The thermal and climatic health resort is located about 50 km southwest of Clermont- Ferrand and 7 km west of Mont -Dore to 864 m altitude in the upper reaches of the Dordogne and the inflow Vendeix.

History

The bath essence of the place is old: Already at the beginning of the 15th century are the " Balanea " La Bourboule mentioned. In the 19th century it witnessed the rise to a famous Kurbadeort; a first spa was put into operation in 1821. Today's Thermalbauten can be found on the river banks, connected by several bridges.
