La Côte-d'Arbroz

La Côte- d'Arbroz is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

La Côte- d'Arbroz is located to 1170 m above sea level. Level, close to the tourist resort Morzine, 25 km south-southeast of the town of Thonon -les- Bains ( straight line ). The mountain village is located in the southern Chablais, on the west slope of the Vallée d' Aulps high above the valley floor of the Dranse de Morzine, in the Savoy Alps.

The area of ​​12.24 km ² municipal area includes a section of the Vallée d' Aulps. The municipal area occupies large parts of the catchment area of the Brochard, a left side of Bach's Dranse de Morzine. History

The village is first mentioned in the 12th century under the name Arberoz. The name derives from the Latin word arbor ( tree ) and refers to a place where the trees were planted. La Côte- d'Arbroz was collected in 1783 into an independent municipality.

Population

With 267 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Côte- d'Arbroz one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Savoie. After the population had decreased markedly during the 20th century (1901 counted La Côte- d'Arbroz still 502 inhabitants), was re- recorded a population increase since the late 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure
