La Grange is a city in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is located in Oldham County and is the county seat ( county seat ).

History

The town was founded in 1827 and determined in the same year to the administrative office of the County; this administrative headquarters moved in the following year once again back to Westport, before he finally remained from 1838 at La Grange. Already in 1828 had been established here a post office.

A significant upturn experienced La Grange only in the middle of the 19th century, when the railway reached the town. It is one of the few places in Kentucky, roll in today trains directly on a main road through the town center. This historic center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

La Grange is the birthplace of actor David Wark Griffith ( 1875-1948 ).
