La Merced, JunÃn
La Merced is the capital of the province in the department of Junín Chanchamayo in Perú.
The city lies at an altitude of 751 m above sea level, 75 km due east of the provincial capital of Junín and 220 kilometers northeast of the state capital Lima. On the paved road, there are 305 kilometers from Lima to La Merced. It lies on the west bank of the Río Chanchamayo, the downstream Río PERENE goes on and west of the summit of Cerro Toro Huajrashga.
The population of La Merced was 21,885 inhabitants at the last census in 2007.
