La Thuile (Savoie)
La Thuile is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.
Geography
La Thuile is situated at 874 m above sea level, 11 km east-southeast of the town of Chambery (air line). The farming village extends to the west of the department of Savoie, on the south of the massif of the Wallows, in a basin at the Lac de la Thuile, at the southern foot of the Pic de la mammals.
The area of 18:26 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the massif of the Wallows. The central part of the area is occupied by a little in relief basins, the average is at 850 m and has a diameter of about 2.5 km. The more or less circular pool is closed in all directions except to the northwest. It is drained by the Ruisseau de Ternèze to Leysse ( tributary of Lac du Bourget ). In the basin, the 7.3 -acre Lac de la Thuile is. The boundaries of the basin on its south side by a sharp ridge that slopes steeply against the Talfurche the Isère. Important summit of this ridge are the Sommet de Montgelas (1300 m), the Roche du Guet ( 1209 m) and Rochefort (1102 m). To the north, the municipality's area extends into the headwaters of the Ruisseau de Ternèze in the heights of Pic de la Suck ( 1612 m), Pointe de la Galoppaz ( to 1640 m, highest peak of La Thuile ) and Mont Charvet (1572 m).
At La Thuile next to the village itself includes various hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:
- Monthoux (760 m) at the Ruisseau de Ternèze at the output from the basin of La Thuile
- Morion (840 m ) in the middle of the valley basin
- Necuidet ( 800 m) in the southern part of the basin
- La Rongère (860 m) in the valley of the Ruisseau de Ternèze at the foot of the Pic de la Suck
Neighboring communities of La Thuile are Puygros and Aillon -le- Jeune in the north, Saint -Jean -de- la- Porte and Cruet in the east, and Montmélian Franc to the south and Chignin and Curienne in the West.
History
The area of La Thuile belonged to the Bishop of Grenoble.
Attractions
The Village Church of La Thuile dates from the 19th century. A natural object of interest is the Lac de la Thuile.
Population
With 296 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Thuile is one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population declined sharply in the first half of the 20th century, a slight increase in population was recorded since the early 1980s again.
Economy and infrastructure
La Thuile was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture, mainly dairy farming and animal husbandry, embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area, particularly in the area Chambery their work.
The village away from the major thoroughfares. Local road connections are made with Curienne, Puygros and cruet. The nearest links to the A43 motorway is located at a distance of around 17 km.
