Labatt Brewing Company

Labatt Brewing Company Ltd. is a Canadian brewery. It was founded in 1847 by Irish immigrant John Labatt children in London ( Ontario). The brewery was bought by the Belgian company Interbrew in 1995.

History

Labatt founded the company by buying up the London Simcoe Street Brewery. 1853 Labatt was the sole owner and named the John Labatt 's Brewery Brewery. With the completion of the Great Western Railway in the 1850s, the company now exported in the whole country. Beginning of the 20th century, the company went on to the nine children of Labatt.

1915 began the ban on public bars. 1916 Ontario was affected. Some provinces banned the production of alcohol, whereas others allowed the production for export to the USA. Labatts strategy was to focus on the export and bring out a drink with less than two percent alcohol content, which was sold in Ontario. Due to the prohibitions, which lasted until 1926, had to close many breweries, but this also strengthened the market position of the Labatt Brewing Company.

In 1945 the Labatt Company 900,000 shares on the stock exchange. 1951 launched the sale of Labatt Pilsener camp, which is known under the label Blue. To apply this brand, the company is sponsoring the Canadian Football team Winnipeg Blue Bombers, playing in the Canadian Football League CFL.

The Labatt Brewing Company employs 3800 employees in eight breweries in Canada.
