Lacus Lenitatis

Lacus Lenitatis - Latin for Sea of gentleness - is a solidified lava lake on the moon, of the larger Maria similar to that of the emergence ago. The term has been defined by the International Astronomical Union in 1976.

The small sea surface has an average diameter of 80 km and is located on the near side of the moon between the Mare Serenitatis and the Mare Vaporum at the selenographic coordinates 14.0 degrees north and 12.0 degrees east.

In the immediate vicinity of the lake is in the northwest of the Lacus Doloris, in the north of Lacus Gaudii and east of the Lacus hiemalis. Located just west of the lake in front of the Mare Vaporum of diameter 39 km wide crater Manilius.
